On Saturday 27th April 2013 the fifteen members of the Northumberland Demonstration Team travelled to Wrexham to fulfil a very special Invitation.

The Maesgwyn Lodge of Installed Masters No 8772 was acting as a host Lodge to   The North Wales Association for Masonic Study which was celebrating 50 years since its founding. After that Meeting the Lodge was opened and received the Provincial Grand Master for North Wales RW Bro Ieuan Redvers Jones who was accompanied by fifteen members of his Executive Team.

Dressed in the costume of the era, the Northumberland Brethren then entered and enacted an early nineteenth century Initiation ceremony and upon retiring received loud and prolonged applause from a very knowledgeable and attentive audience of Masonic scholars and senior Brethren. At the request of the Worshipful Master the team then re-entered the Lodge to again be received by prolonged applause after which the Worshipful Master, on behalf of the 102 Brethren present, thanked the team for a remarkable and memorable performance. Such was the flow of accolades that the Team’s Producer WBro Gordon Scullard was getting concerned that the team might think they were getting good, but was privately immensely proud of the enactment in front of a critical audience of some eminence and which strongly upheld the awareness of our own Province.

A superb dinner then followed in the purpose built Maesgwyn Masonic Hall when further opportunities were taken again to thank and congratulate the Team and a Donation of nearly £500 was then presented by the Worshipful Master. In response WBro Gordon Scullard thanked all Brethren for the warmth of their welcome, for the many personal congratulations received by the Team members and that the Donation would be distributed to assist needy local Charities. WBro Gordon Scullard then informed the Brethren the team has performed over fifty, first and third degree ceremonies and raised over £10,000 of which every penny has gone to Masonic or none Masonic Charities, he then went on to say we have another eight demonstrations to perform this year including a return to Ex Libris Lodge in June which meets at Grand Lodge, Great Queen St, London to enact a third degree ceremony.

The Secretary of the North Wales Association for Masonic Study has requested the Team to perform their third degree ceremony at their AGM at Rhyl in 2014.
