Support for the Great North Air Ambulance

On Saturday 19th June 2010, the Freemasons of Northumberland and Durham presented a cheque to the value of £10,000 to provide continued support for the Great North Air Ambulance service. Rt. W. Bro’s Peter Magnay, Provincial Grand Master of Northumberland and Eric Heaviside, Provincial Grand Master of Durham are seen in the picture presenting the cheque to Barbra Walton, Director of Support Service and to Lynn Simmons, Fund Raising Manager.

£8,000 was contributed by the Freemasons’ Grand Charity and a £1,000 each from both Provinces. The presentation was made at a Coffee Morning at Scarbrough Court Care Home in Cramlington.

The Great North Air Ambulance service continues to carry out important work for our communities; none more so than demonstrated in the recent tragedies in Cumbria. The service relies totally on voluntary contributions from the general public. The money will be used to help purchase a ground support vehicle to help support the work of their two helicopters.
