Bro. Cliff Dey and Bro. Mick Bell handing over a cheque for £2,422.50 to Gill Johnson and Roz Gale from the Bubble Foundation in the Bubble ward at the RVI.

As many of you may be aware, Byker Masonic Hall's two chosen charities for 2011 were the Bubble Foundation based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle and the national charity Help for Heroes.

It gives us great pleasure to announce that the combined total raised was £4,111.70 (Bubble Foundation £2,422.50 and Help for Heroes £1,689.20).

2011 saw two social evenings being held here at the Masonic Hall as well as talks given in the Lodge meetings of St. Oswald Lodge No. 6135 and Newcastle upon Tyne Lodge No. 24 by the two respective charities. With thanks to both Lodges who donated the raffle proceeds on that night. Donations were also received from the Province as well as from Excelsior Lodge No. 6609 and St. Anthony’s Lodge No. 4423 from their festive boards. The Christmas formal Ball helped to raise further funds and a special mention to Bro. Mick Bell of Tyne Lodge No. 991 who completed last year’s Great North Run on behalf of the Bubble Foundation, as well as Cliff and Roz, who have to take credit for the Bubble.

Having listened to both very informative talks about the charities and having been given a tour around the Bubble Ward, it not only makes you appreciate these two wonderful organisations but assures you that the monies you have help raise is going to worthy causes.

As well as all those who have helped throughout the year, we would like to thank all of you who have supported and given so generously throughout 2011 with the various activities and events that have been organised. THANK YOU!

Following on from the success of the 2011 campaign, we are pleased to announce that this year’s chosen charities will be The Evening Chronicle’s Sunshine Fund and continuing on with our support for the RVI but we move next door from the Bubble Ward to the Teenage Ward to support the Teenage Cancer Trust. We will keep you updated on events and hope for the same wonderful support as last year.
