The above photograph shows Mr Brian Rudd, Provincial Secretary of Freemasons of Northumberland presenting a cheque for £1,000 to Mrs. Gwyn McKenzie, Chair of LookwideUK, the development wing of Northumberland County Scout Council.

The scheme which has now been running successfully for over ten years, supports disadvantaged young people who are not required to become Scouts, however all programmes promote the values of Scouting; integrity, respect, care and co-operation.

On receiving the cheque, Mrs McKenzie said “LookwideUK believe in life-long learning and we do our best to make learning fun for those that may not have enjoyed school.  We design `development programmes’ not one-off `quick fixes`, to meet the needs and interests of the young people involved. It costs us approximately £500 to support one young person for one term so we are greatly indebted to the Freemason`s in Northumberland who have so generously supported us in this way.”

Anyone interested in helping to empower a young person to fulfil their potential can simply contact us today on 0191 251 4064 option 2 and we`ll organise it from there.
