Great North Run

On Sunday 18th September 2011, W. Bro. Jim Steel, Senior Warden of Whitley Lodge No. 2821 completed the Great North Run in a time of 3 hours. This was Jim’s first Great North Run and he had decided at the outset that he would use the Run to raise sponsorships for the Northumberland Masonic Charity Association (NMCA).

The total raised so far is £1,105.80. At the Regular Meeting of Whitley Lodge held on Thursday 22nd September 2011, W. Bro. Jim presented a cheque to W. Bro. Vic Wood, the Assistant Provincial Grand Master.

W. Bro. Wood in receiving the cheque on behalf of the NMCA, thanked Jim for his “magnificent effort”. Jim replied that he was already in training for next year’s Run.

The Worshipful Master added his congratulations and the brethren acclaimed W. Bro. Jim with a resounding round of applause.
