Investiture of New APGM

On the 11th January 2012 Seaton Delaval Lodge No. 4617 had the pleasure of holding the Investiture of W Bro Donald Auld as Assistant Provincial Grand Master. The investiture was carried out by The Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master Peter Magnay D.L. The ceremony was attended by over 90 brethren from around the Province.

In the photograph are the Rt Worshipful Provincial Grand Master Peter Magnay DL, W Bro David Lilly, W Bro David Melvin, W Bro Donald Auld, and the Worshipful Master of Seaton Delaval Lodge, John Houlison.

After the ceremony the festive board was very good with some excellent speeches which you can imagine the Tyler’s toast was given around 10.15pm. The evening gave all who attended, to talk to their friends whom they had not seen for a while.

60th Certificate for Eric Davidson
At a regular meeting of Carliol Lodge No. 5419 on Wednesday 18th January 2012, the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, V W Bro. John James Craigs PGSwdB presented 60th Year Certificate to W Bro. Eric Samuel Davidson PProvSGW. It was very happy and memorable occasion for both the Lodge and Eric. W Bro. Davidson who was unable to attend the Lodge for a number of years due to his poor health, gratefully thanked the Lodge for the continual contact and support throughout the years.

Eric_Davidson

W Bro. Eric was initiated into Carliol Lodge on 21st November 1951, passed on 16th January 1952 and raised on 17th September 1952 (along with our current Treasurer, Ron Hume). He was WM of the Lodge in 1966 and received his first Provincial appointment in 1976 as PProvSGW.

When Eric was Initiated, Carliol Lodge met in the same building as today but it had moved to Broomfield Hall, then to Gosforth, and then to Cramlington. Eventually it moved back to Fern Avenue on 19th September 1973 when the building was purchased by Carliol Trust which later formed into Fern Avenue Masonic Co Ltd.

Virtually all of the work in converting the building was carried out by members of the various Lodges occupying the building and Eric, being a qualified electrician played a prominent role in the building refurbishment. No doubt everyone is thankful to Eric and his team for the work they did almost 40 years ago. The Province probably in recognition of his work, awarded him the highest Provincial honour.

W Bro. Eric has two sons who were both initiated into Carliol Lodge, namely Stephen and Trevor who became WM in 1993. Eric's Godson, Ian Matthews, was also initiated into the Lodge and he is currently the Provincial Senior Grand Warden in the Province of Northumberland.

There was no one prouder than W Bro. Davidson tonight.
